Lake Family Reunion at Lake Hiawassee

All right folks.... be prepared for picture overload. We went on family vacay and we did a LOT of stuff like...

Gordy and I went on an early morning canoe ride. We were the only ones on the lake and it was beautiful. So fun to spend time with Gordy and take in the scenery (even though I was a terrible canoer).

Lots and lots of sitting on the back porch looking at the backyard.

... and lots of playing on the hammocks.
The entire family went panning for gems (Grandma's treat). Dad found a 492 karat ruby. No big deal. Here is some of the loot.
...and the entire family frantically searching for the best treasure

We hiked to a waterfall. In my opinion this was one of the highlights of the trip. We got to swim in a natural pool under a waterfall with my cousins. The water was super cold but it was like doing something straight out of a movie. Not to mention on our hike we were literally 30 feet from a real, live, wild bear.

Jack tried some southern cuisine. Here is his face tasting fried pickles...
... then he decided he actually liked it and was literally jamming Gordy's fork into his mouth.
We went to Brass Town Bald, which happens to be the highest point in Georgia. We rode a shuttle up and hiked down. Jack fell asleep on Grandpa's shoulder on the way down. It was super cute.

My mom and dad watched Jack so that Gordy and I could go out on a date. We took a couple of hours and went to a wake boarding cable park. I nominated myself to sit out and be a photographer while Gordy played.... He do deserves time to do the things he loves... he is constantly working so hard.
Gordy was the best one there...
... he hit the ramp every time and really pulled off some awesome tricks. I have to admit, it was really cute.
We went fishing at a trout farm. I know it's not super sporting, but it really is my kind of fishing. No paying for a license, no running the risk of not catching anything, no baiting your own hook or cleaning your own fish, and no sitting around for hours and hours hoping to get a bite on your hook. All in all we were there for an hour and caught twice as much fish as our entire family could eat.
Some highlights... watching Nanny catch her first fish, watching Carter try to pick up a fish, and watching how proud Seth was that he caught the biggest fish by far.

Among some other things we did, we also had a chance to take some family pictures, Gordy and I went for a run up and down the mountain, we played minute to win it as a family (which was hilarious), rolling Farkle dice, going out to eat at Michalee's Chocolate cafe with the immediate fam, antiquing with mom, swimming in the lake with the cousins, and dinner and a movie with the entire family.

After all that was said and done, we crammed all of our many, many things into our tiny car, said a teary good bye to my Mom and Dad and headed off on our 8.5 hour journey home. Jack was a champ in the car, by the way.

We had such a fun time and we are already excited for next year's reunion.
