JRCLS Social

This was a pretty bust week in the Wilson household.... Not only did I order a jogging stroller (which I hope to put to good use as soon as it comes in on Wednesday) I also made some wall art for Jack's room. I also had a couple of firsts: I made gumbo and played Bunko for the first time.

It was also an epic week in the Wilson house because BYU played UF in the sweet sixteen round of March madness. Jack was a fair weather fan since his Mom has loyalties to both schools.

The whole family was dressed in blue, navy blue that is... We had to show support for our alma mater. Too bad our fashion choices had little impact on the outcome of the game. It would have been fun to see BYU do well, but it was a win-win situation for me.

This week was also Spring Law Day at Indiana University. Basically, the university invites admitted law students to come check out the school over the weekend. Since there were several students admitted from BYU we decided to throw a party for the visiting students at our apartment. Gordy invited the entire J. Reuben Clark Law Society IU chapter as well as the visiting students. It was a lot of work, but with a lot of help from Heather we pulled it off! Man, do we love to throw a party! Including the little ones, we had about 25 in attendance. Heather and I made pulled pork sandwiches and we had a potluck for the sides and desserts. I think this might have been the first time the JRCLS had a social to help recruit new members, so I was really excited to be the hostess. I hope we can make this a continuing tradition.

Gordy was the party photographer, so this is a little taste of what he does... "Okay Dan and Kris, try to get as far away from each other as possible while still staying entirely in the frame of the picture."

"Good. Now get as close as you possibly can to each other..." (Notice how genuine their smiles are in this one?)

Heather and Ethan. I just die over his rosy sweet cheeks!

Spring Break

We had the most amazing Spring Break! Last minute, Gordy and I decided to buy tickets to Utah. We kept our trip a secret from everyone (Except for Gordy's dad, Gordon and Gordy's sister, Whitney). We got to the airport two and a half hours early and had a two hour delay. This is Jack at the airport waiting for his first flight. Doesn't he look thrilled?

Waiting for the our plane...

After sprinting, literally sprinting across the Atlanta International Airport with a baby in my arms, we narrowly made our connecting flight. Needless to say, our luggage did not. By the time we pulled into Gordon and Sandy's driveway it was 1:30 AM, and we still didn't have our bags... We tried so hard to sleep, but we were too excited to surprise Sandy to get any real rest. Luckily, we heard her wake up around 5 Am to read her scriptures. We walked out of our room and Gordy said "Boo!". She was really confused, then really excited.

The next morning we went with Gordon and Sandy to meet up with Gordy's sisters, Lindsay, Ainsley, and Whitney, along with some of their kids at Tony Caputo's for lunch. Gordy's sisters had great reactions to our surprise.

On day two, Gordy took me skiing at Alta. It was my first time ever going skiing. I had a really fun time spending the afternoon with Gordy.

This is my first time ever strapping on a pair of skis...

I fell down, a lot. But, the weather was so nice and I was having a good time, plus I had a really cute ski instructor, so I didn't mind.... This next picture is for your entertainment...

I'm no pro, but all in all I think I did okay for my first time...

Sandy was nice enough to watch Jack in the lodge while we played.

Family picture

I was even brave enough after an hour of playing on the tow rope to ride the lift and try a run. The chair lift ride was so beautiful. Seriously, every one should do it at least once in their lives. Here we are on the lift to the top of the mountain.

Here I am, skiing down the mountain. I wish we had more pictures of Gordy, because he is a great skier, but staying upright took my full concentration, so there was no way I could snap a few pics... maybe next time.

Gordy set up an obstacle coarse for Whit's kids in the backyard. He's pretty creative with things like that. Here's Henry, waiting for his turn. You will never meet a sweeter boy than little Henry.

This is the view from Gordon and Sandy's backyard. They probably have the best view in all of Salt Lake City.

On day three we drove down to Provo to see some old friends. This is Jack, meeting Sophie for the first time.

Gordy, with his best friend since childhood, Jonny. It's so crazy how they are both dads now! We are totally expecting Jack and Sophie to be good friends for life. Who knows, maybe one day we'll put this picture in a wedding slide show? haha

After hanging out with Jonny, Alli, and Sophie, we met up with my friend Aleksi. Man, it had been way too long since I last saw her. It was so nice to catch up.

You can't go to Provo without stopping by campus. Here we are that my old work, Campus Craft and Floral. I had to stop by to see my cute friends Joslin and Alli.

Then we met up with the River himself. We walked around campus with Danny between classes. I'm still convinced you can't find a nicer guy on the planet than Danny.

Family picture with Brigham Young.

After walking around with Danny, we went to Cougar Computer to meet up with some of Gordy's old work friends. Then we went to the bookstore to buy some BYU paraphernalia and some fudge. Then we went to see Shanti in the HVAC. It's always fun to see Shanti. She makes us laugh with her stories and opinions.

Later that night, we went to a sushi demonstration. It was pretty neat, even though I only saw about a 1/4 of it because I was in the hallway trying to put Jack to sleep...

Our little Jack-Attack doing a toe touch. This is his new thing. He LOVES to hang on to those feet.

On day four, we did some grocery shopping with Sandy. It wouldn't be a trip to SLC without stopping by Costco and Smith's. Gordy also did a little rocket building.

We went down to the church parking lot behind Sandy and Gordon's house to launch the rocket. This is pre-launch.

Liftoff!!!!
Friday we went out to eat at Cafe Rio with Whitney, Ainsley, and Logan. Then we went to a bakery for dessert.

On Saturday we met up with Whitney and James at Este's Pizza. It was fun catching up with them and hearing about her pregnancy.

Then it was off to Rocco's birthday party for a few hours. After that, all of the adults went out to Market Street Broiler for dinner. Here's Pop with Stone and Jack.

Three generations of Wilson men.

The four Gordons of our family: Gordon Thomas, Jack Gordon, Dean Gordon, and Gordon Scott.

Sunday night we had a little marshmallow roast get-together with some more friends and family. Here is my brother Adam with Jack.

Sandy and Gordy's friends came, Julie and her son Dane along with their spouses. Hilary, Sam, and Dean were there too. Of course all of Gordy's siblings and their kids came. Also in attendance was the Larsen family. Man it sure was good to see all of them.

The next morning we flew back home to Indiana.
We had a very busy and fun filled Spring Break in Utah!
